A new year, a fresh start, and the year of being present in the moment.

I started this blog to inspire me to rediscover my voice in the written word. To put in black and white the thoughts I have on motherhood, friendship, love and most importantly how my faith is the core of each of these. Prayer has and continues to be a strong component of my life, I believe in prayer, prayer anchors me and connects me in a powerful way to our Lord and my Catholic faith. I have witnessed the healing power of prayer and my life today is truly an answer to a most fervent prayer. Whether in thanks, praise or supplication there is a glow to prayer, it fills the void of my being with a holy presence and awakens the Spirit within me.

Though I am incredibly active as a wife and mom of three boys, two teenagers and one pre-teen - sometimes I get caught in the routine - and don't seem truly present. I have missed the opportunity to feel, embrace and savor unexpected moments because of being busy. My prayers were rushed, like my life, I was missing the grace and glow of prayer.

So this year I for the first time, due in large part to my sister Louise who always said "Karen you should write!"; my friend Christe, who ten years ago reignitied the embers of my prayer life and dubbed me MacGyver for many reasons - (though I couldn't quite work that into the blog name) and the amazing women (Elizabeth Foss, Marianne Mabile, Ann VosKamp, Holley Gerth, to name just a few) that have inspirational, faith filled blogs in this amazing blogosphere world, I begin Prayer Glow.

I am so grateful to have this outlet for my words, how blessed a gift this technology is that we can stay connected with family and friends far away, reconnect with old friends, and be inspired by others we've never met .  How great it is to tame this wild web world into a gift to each of us.  So as I learn the blogger's world, I will fumble, stumble and I will be okay with that - because it is just a moment - a moment to learn, develop, explore and grow.

Welcome 2011, my year of being present in the moment so that the graces of the moment are not lost.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13
